On June 5, 2025, the wedding of Pooja Kumari—daughter of Pappu Kumar and Mahesh Ram, residents of Lahi village in the Madhuban police station area of Bihar's East Champaran district—took place .The women of their household and family were on their way to worship the Goddess, singing wedding songs. Upon seeing the women, a group of individuals belonging to a specific caste began to harass them. The women protested and informed the male members of their families about the incident. Papu Kumar, Nukes, and other neighbors arrived at the scene and confronted those involved in the harassment. Enraged by this confrontation, Suresh Sahani, Madan Sahani, and a mob of three dozen people—armed with lethal weapons—launched an assault on the Dalits. They beat three Dalits, inflicting head injuries, and subjected dozens of women to physical assault and harassment. In connection with this incident, Case No. 192/25 has been registered at the Madhuban Police Station.
