after he refused to pay extortion money
The victim, Vikki Kumar (22)—son of Mohan Paswan, a resident of Katahn village under the Mehasi police station ,District east champaran , bihar and a member of the Scheduled Caste—was targeted on February 22, 2026. Three offenders belonging to non-Scheduled Caste communities—identified as Chandan Kumar, Shyam Ray, and Aditya Kumar—demanded an extortion sum of ₹5,000 from him. When he refused to pay, the three assailants severely injured him by beating him with illegal weapons and fled while threatening to kill him if he reported the matter. It is noteworthy that the victim had returned home from working out of town on February 21, 2026; upon learning of his return, the offenders arrived to demand extortion money, anticipating that he had brought back earnings. An FIR regarding the incident was registered at the Mehasi police station 12 days after the event occurred....
