The incident took place in Tetariya village, under the jurisdiction of Rajepur police station in the East Champaran district of Bihar. Both the victim and the accused are residents of the same village; the victim belongs to a Scheduled Caste, while the accused belongs to a backward community. On June 10, 2026, the victim, Ajit Kumar (22)—son of Jailal Ram—was returning home from his shop located at Mandir Chowk. En route, Manjoor Alam and other miscreants surrounded him and launched a life-threatening attack. They stabbed him with the intent to kill; the knife struck his left flank, causing him to fall to the ground, bleeding profusely. When Rahul Kumar and Akash Kumar intervened to save him, the attackers assaulted and injured them as well. The injured individuals received medical treatment at Sadar Hospital, Motihari. An FIR regarding the incident was registered at the local police station on the same day (Case No. 136/26).
