Dominant-caste men struck a Dalit woman 17 times
with a sharp-edged weapon with the intent to kill her.
The incident took place in Ward No. 09 of Pakaridyal, within the jurisdiction of the Pakaridyal police station in East Champaran district, Bihar. On the night of March 13, 2026, a group of 12 individuals from the Yadav family—including Vinesh Yadav—armed with lethal weapons, launched a murderous attack on the victim, Geeta Devi (56), wife of the late Hari Paswan. She was subjected to mistreatment and caste-based slurs. When the victim resisted, she was stabbed 17 times with the intent to kill, leaving her in a critical, near-death condition. Her family members rushed her to the hospital for treatment. Case No. 127/26 was registered at the Pakaridyal police station on March 14, 2026. The motive behind the incident is reported to be the victim's refusal to agree to a compromise in a previously filed case. That earlier case (Case No. 282/23) had been registered at the Pakaridyal police station in connection with a land dispute.
