The incident is of Phaltan block, district Satara, Maharashtra where on dated 10.03.2015, Accused from OBC community kidnapped 18 year old Girl from SC community with an intent to outrage her modesty. The girl was deaf and dumb and was not able to protect her from victims attack and was forcefully dragged on a motorbike by both the accused. This was witnessed by boy named shubham who lives in the same locality where victim girl stays. Accused took the girl nearly 8 to 9 kms from her house location, they dragged her to the sugarcane field and raped her there. On 13.03.2015. when girl\'s mother shared news of her missing daughter, the community members gathered and hearing all this, that boy who witnessed abducting seeing mentioned to girls family that 2 boys from OBC community took the girl on motorbike 2 days back. After this the girl was taken to Police Station by her parents where FIR was registered against both OBC accused. One accused got arrested on 14.03.2015 and Police did not arrest 2nd accused. Meanwhile, After getting information of the incident, the NDMJ Maharashtra team intervened in the case. on 19.03.2015, they uploaded the complete case incident on web based mechanism named Atrocity Tracking & Monitoring (ATM) system and sent SMS/Email alerts to SP and DySP Satara District for speeding up the investigation and arrest 2nd accused who was involved in planing and executing the rape incident. Same day SP Satara district conducted spot investigation and arrested the 2nd accused as well. Since the case has continuously been followed by NDMJ team, therefore case concern officials at the district level got an idea that they have no scope of leaving the case loose from any end. 

 

Conviction in this case was the result of outstanding efforts of the Government Lawyer fighting the case in favor of Victim and continuous efforts of NDMJ team in building up the confidence of victims family and witnesses for taking up the legal process against both the accused. On 7.08.2016, Session\'s court convicted both the accused for Life imprisonment for the rape of dalit girl.
