Case brief

Case summary

On 02 January 2024, the complainant, Arjun Chandram Dakhvi (56 years old), a farmer, was returning home on his motorcycle after receiving treatment at Yashoda Hospital, Akluj. Due to an earlier land dispute and pending civil litigation between the parties, the accused had been threatening him and pressuring him to withdraw the case.
At around 3:00 PM, while the complainant was travelling through Bamhulgaon, the accused Vicky @ Appanna Rajaram Parade intentionally blocked his motorcycle with another motorcycle, causing him to fall onto the road. Immediately thereafter, Roshan Balasaheb Parade, Gajendra Samadhan Parade, and Ishwar Balasaheb Parade joined Vicky and assaulted the complainant.
During the assault, Vicky attacked the complainant with a knife, causing injuries to his left forearm and both legs. The other accused also assaulted him with fists and kicks. They abused him in filthy language, issued caste-based insults, threatened to kill him, and repeatedly demanded that he withdraw the pending land dispute case.
The complainant sustained serious injuries and was initially treated at a local hospital before being referred to Yashoda Hospital, Akluj for further medical treatment. He alleged that the attack was a pre-planned attempt to murder him over the ongoing land dispute and previous enmity. Accordingly, he lodged a complaint against all four accused for assault, criminal intimidation, caste-based abuse, and attempt to murder.
