Case brief

Case summary

H. Leelavathi, submit this complaint stating that certain persons abused me and my family by using caste-based insults, physically assaulted me, pulled my saree and blouse, dragged me by my hair, threw me out of my house, and beat me brutally with the intention of causing my death. The incident occurred on 04-06-2026 at around 6:00 PM. With the support of H. Devaraj (son of Pampapathi), the following persons: H. Shivaraj, son of Pampapathi, aged about 35 years, H. Sreekanth, son of Pampapathi, aged about 33 years, N. Ramanjinappa, came to my house while I was alone. They entered my house without permission, threw all the household belongings onto the road, and when I questioned why they were doing this, they caught hold of me, dragged me, pulled my saree and blouse, grabbed my hair, and assaulted me. My 13-year-old daughter was also subjected to physical assault. They claimed that the land belonged to them and shouted that we must immediately vacate the place. They abused us using insulting and obscene words, humiliated us, threw our belongings on the road, urinated on them, and spat on them. They further threatened that if we did not vacate the land, they would kill us and bury our bodies there. They also threatened to set our hut on fire at night while my family was sleeping. When nearby people came to stop the assault, the accused fled from the spot. The place where we are residing falls under the Gram Panchayat limits, and we have been living there by paying an annual rent of ₹12,000. We had no previous dispute or acquaintance with the accused. Taking advantage of my husband's absence, they intentionally targeted us because we belong to the Madiga Scheduled Caste community, abused us by caste name, and committed these atrocities. Due to the assault, my health deteriorated, and I was admitted to the Government Mariyammanahalli Hospital, where an MLC (Medico-Legal Case) was registered.
