On 14/07/2022 at about 23:30 hrs, Taramati Ashok Suryavanshi, aged 36 years, resident of Sayyad Nagar, Pune, originally from Parli, District Beed, was declared dead at Sassoon Hospital, Pune. The case was initially investigated by PSI Saurabh Mane under Accidental Death Register No. 277/2022 (CrPC 174) and later handed over to PSI Sushil Damre, Hadapsar Police Station, for further investigation.
The inquest panchnama conducted at Sassoon Hospital revealed multiple injuries, with the medical opinion confirming that such injuries could have resulted from a railway accident. Investigation revealed that the deceased had been in an extramarital relationship with one Vikrant Dashath Jagtap since 2016 and had been living with him after leaving her husband, Ashok Suryavanshi. It was found that Vikrant Jagtap frequently assaulted, abused, and mentally harassed Taramati, sometimes denying her food, and they often quarrelled over petty issues.
On an earlier occasion, she had attempted suicide by jumping from Vikrant's autorickshaw. On the date of incident, due to continuous physical and mental harassment by Vikrant Jagtap, Taramati allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Based on witness statements, medical reports, and legal opinion, it was concluded that Vikrant Dashath Jagtap had abetted the suicide, leading to the registration of offences under Sections 306, 323, 504, and 506 of the
