Case summary

A Dalit minor girl was kidnapped by dominant people

                               --------------------------------------------------------------

The incident took place in Balua Tola village, located within the jurisdiction of the Kundwa Chainpur police station in the East Champaran district of Bihar state. On September 29, 2026, Kumari Rupam (a pseudonym) went to school to study but did not return home. Despite an extensive search, her whereabouts could not be determined. The following day, it was learned that several individuals from her own village had abducted her with malicious intent and taken her elsewhere. Those involved include: 1. Md. Javed Alam, aged approximately 19, son of Aftab Alam; 2. Aftab Alam, aged approximately 50, son of Sheikh Maqsood Alam; 3. Md. Khalid, aged approximately 61, son of Sohaib Alam; 4. Layak Alam, aged approximately 20; and 5. Shabuddin Nesha, aged approximately 45, wife of Aftab Alam.

Upon receiving information, when the victim's father and other family members went to inquire, the family members of the abductors became aggressive and assaulted them. They also used caste-based slurs and subjected them to public humiliation. Subsequently, the abductors' family members pressured the victim's father not to file a legal case, promising to ensure the girl's recovery by October 2, 2026. However, the girl was not recovered by the promised date. Compelled by the situation, the victim's father submitted an application at the Kundwa Chaipur police station, leading to the registration of a case (Case No. 317/26) on October 3, 2026. To date, the girl has not been recovered, nor has any of the named accused been arrested. The police have shown a lack of sensitivity toward the matter.
