A Dalit Girl Gang Raped and Murdered Ambarnath

Megha Gayakwad, the deceased and her family members belong to Baudh (SC) sub caste and from Metal Nagar, Ambarnath police station, Thane District, Maharashtra. The Ambernath police have nabbed the murderer of Megha Gaikwad whose body was found in a decomposed state in the shrubs near Navre Nagar at Ambernath on July 15. Gayakwad worked in a company named Excel. After the work she did not return her home till 12 at night. She was looked for everywhere. When parents could not look for her they registered the case in the Ambernath police station.
The family of Megha undergoes poverty and so she started her work after her matriculation. As per the general information suggests that she had fallen in love with one of the colleagues, Shafeek Shaikh (22) s/o Jahur Shaikh, there who happened to be the younger brother of the company owner Hafiz Shaikh. Since the love story was known to everyone in the company she proposed him for the marriage. This did not sound good to Shafeek Shaikh.
It was therefore, the lover Shafeek Shaikh wanted to get rid of her. He called her once on July 12, 2006 to a lonely place in the shrub after six pm. Thinking that he would have some plans to marry her, she went to meet him there after the duty. As soon as she reached the place, the perpetrators Shafeek Shekh alias Pappu (main accused), 22, s/o Jahur Shekh; Munna, 30, s/o Ranjeet Yadav, Mohammad Shekh, 25, s/o Mohammad Shekh, Anish Shekh, 22, Hanif Shekh and Hafiz Shekh, 35, attacked her, gang raped her and throttled her till death. After raping her they cut off her palms and burnt her face and below her waist. They tried to hide all the evidences.
The family of the girl Megha had lodged a complaint to the Ambernath police station on July 13, 2006. The FIR no. is 272/07 u/s 302, 201 and 34 IPC. The body was obtained on 15.7.2006 and after the identification of the body, which was sent for the postmortem report at the Central Hospital in Ullhas Nagar. Later on the body was cremated from there. The three friends Mohammad Shaikh(25), Anees Shaikh(22) and Munna Yadav (30) have been booked under sections 302, 201 and 34 IPC. They have been remanded to police custody.

Palle Chinnamma (18) D/o Hanmiah, Madiga (SC) community is the resident of Kummera Village of Tadoor Mandal in Mahabubnagar District. She used to go for the grazing their own goats. About 9 months ago when she was grazing their goats in the field away from the village, Kankanda Ranjeeth Reddy S/o Narshimha Reddy belongs to Reddy caste of the same village lured her and promised to have their marriage soleminsed at Tirupathi Devesthenam. He requested to satisfy his sexual desire, believing that he will marry her they continued their sexual relationship. As a consequence Palle Chinnamma became pregnant. On 15 February 2007 Chennamma asked Ranjeeth Reddy to marry her as soon as, as she is pregnant. After hearing this Ranjeeth reacted and abused her by her caste and he kicked hard on her stomach. She informed all the matter to her parents and what had happened. As she was taken to the Hospital she informed that she was pregnant.
On 16 February 2007 Kum.Palle Chennamma lodged a complaint at Tadoor Police Station against the rapist. Accused was arrested and got bail. Rs 25,000/- was paid as Compensation. Charge sheet is not filed.

Kidnap and gang rape of a minor Dalit girl, Farmana

- Summary:: Renu (15) d/o Jagdish is the resident of Falman village under Mahun police station, Tahsil Mahun in Rahtak Dist. belongs to Chamar community. On 8th July, 2006, the victim went to a nearby field to collect firewood. On her way back home, the rapist Jagdish (50) s/o Chatan Singh and four of his friends, belonging to Jat community kidnapped Renu. The rapists used drug to make her unconscious and raped her. The victim after she regained conscious managed to come home back and reported the incident to her parents. On the following day, the victim’s family lodged complaint in Farmana police station. Medical examination was conducted on the victim and a rape case was registered against the rapist on 09/07/06, No. 178/06, under section 363, 366, 376 IPC & ¾ of SC/ST (PoA) Act. The rapists were not been arrested. The victim has not received any compensation from the administration. Charge sheet was filed in this case.

Encroachment on Dalit community land in Yawati

- Summary:: In Yevati there is a government land reserved for Boudh Vihar, since last 5 year dalit used to celebrate Ambedkar Birthday in the field. There is a board and five colored flag in the field. In the year 2005 the sarpanch of the village decided to put boundary in the field by wire but could not complete it because of the non dalit higher caste people opposed it. In 2006, the no dalit did not want the dalit to celebrate so complained the police. So ambedkar birthday was observed in the supervision of police. But one of the non dalit filed a case in the court that the reserved land is of the village and dalit has encroached on the land. The case is pending under trial. The accused also tried to remove the board and flag through police but because the case was in the court police did not remove the board and flag from the field. On 05.07.2006 the dominant community wanted to out the Shiv Sena bard in the reserved field then the dalit requested them not to put the board but they listened to the dalits. And as pre planned more than 500 people attacked the dalit community with different weapon, chilli powder and poisonous substance. They wanted to kill the dalit who were less in no but the dalit escaped. More than 50 dallits were severely injured in the attacked and were hospitalized.
