Talluri Sri Divya, aged 26 years, D/o Taalluri Chandra, SC by caste, was working as doctor in Nature Cure Centre of Annavaram Devasthanam. She was abetted to suicide by V Lakshman, Kalinga (BC) by caste.
Sri Divya and Lakshman studied in Nature Cure College, Ameerpet, Hyderabad from 2001 to 2008. Divya is native of Rajahmundry, East Godavari District and Lakshman is a native of Srikakulam. They were in love since 2001. He promised to marry her.
After completing her studies, she got posted in Annavaram as Medical Officer. Preference is given to married couples in the posting. Lakshman has submitted his resume and a letter to the same job with reference to Sri Divya stating that she is his would-be and they would like to work together. Sri Divya convinced her employer, as he had one subject to pass out and 6 months time was given to him.
He came to Hyderabad on the pretext of completing his degree. Divya has came to know that he was trying to go to Australia. When she talked to him, he refused to marry her saying that she belongs to scheduled caste and hence his parents would not agree to their marriage. He also demanded Rs.20,000,00/- dowry from her. Even Lakshman’s brother, V Ram Mohan Rao, 5th Ward Member in Srikakulam, threatened Divya to leave his brother. Later Lakshman stopped talking to Divya.
Divya has come to know that he was staying in Moosapet in the residence of Sanjana. On 1st April 2008, she called up her friends and said that she is coming to Hyderabad from Annavaram and said that she would go in for legal action if he refuses to marry her. Divya talked to her friend over phone at 11:00 am on 2nd April 2008 and said that she is in Hyderabad. Divya said that she met Lakshman and they are at Sanjana’s residence. Later one unknown person called her mother and informed that Divya is in Hyderabad and is ill. Her mother tried calling her and could talk to her at 01:30 noon. Divya was weeping and said that she would reach home in 10 minutes but came at 03:00 pm in auto. Noticing that she was ill her mother tried to feed her but Divya vomited. When her mother asked, she replied that she was given milk by Sanjana. She was taken to local hospital. The doctor informed that she is toxicated and should be taken to other hospital. Divya was taken to Remedy Hospital, Kukatpally at 09:30 pm. The doctors informed that she is toxicated by sleeping pills and pesticide and admitted in Hospital. Divya’s father is a retired employee and her mother is house-wife. They were finding it very hard to meet the medical expenses. FIR bearing No. 101/08 was registered in Sanathnagar PS u/s 420 of IPC, 3(1) (x) of SC/ST (PoA) Act on 4th April 2008. Accused arrested and remanded.
Palani belongs to dalit community, reside at Indhira Nager, Kasilingampalayam, Erode district. He was working as a Sanitary worker. He was derogatory referred abused caste name and brutally attacked by caste Hindu Mahendarn. Palani was brutally attacked by wood stick and deadly weapon.
He lodge the complaint in Kadathur police station, but police officials filed a case only under IPC section. They did not added SC/ST PoA act. A false complaint was filed against Palani by Mahendran. Since VCK party caders agitated to include SC/ST act and close false case which was filed against palani. These both cases was acquitted in Erode sessions court.
Lalita Kumari (7) d/o Rajkumar Ram (SC Chamar), resident of Haspuradi village comes under the jurisdiction of Harpura Police station in Aurangabad District. On 28-03-08 she had taken her goats for tending behind Jasim Ansari’s house, who belongs to non Dalit from the same village. He lured her inside his house with the promise of mehendi leaves and sweetmeats.
Lalita went inside Jasim Ansari’s House where he gave her a few mehandi leaves and sweets and he then raped her. To silence her screams he threatened to kill her by throwing her in the well near his house. After raping her he let her go and Laita came home in a frightenend state. Due to this fear, she did not tell anyone in her family about the incident. The next day she told two of her friends what had happened and through them Lalita’s family members came to know about the incident. Then Lalita’s mother Rani Devi took her to the hospital for examination there it was found that she was raped. After this examination Rani Devi informed to her husband Raj kumar about the incident.
On 30-03-08 Then Rajkumar Ram went to the Police Station to file F.I.R. upon relating the incident to the officer in charge, the officer did not file the FIR and promised to arrest the accused at 6 pm that day.On 30-03-08, Jasim Ansari was arrested but was released the next day. Rajkumar went to the police station to determine why the accused had been released and to file F.I.R. but the officer in charge refused on both counts. The family then went straight to the S.P. who gave the order that an F.I.R. must be registered.
On 4-04-08 only the F.I.R. was registered u/s. 376 of the I.P.C and 3(1) (xi) of the SC/ST (PoA) Act, 1989. Sofar no compensation has been given to the victim and charge sheet is also not yet filed. The accused has still not been arrested and no police protection has been provided to the family.
