    Case in Brief

    Guddenolla Jangamma, aged 31 years, D/o Lakshmayya, R/o Chevella, SC Madiga by caste resides with her father. She got married to Rajayya, SC Madiga by caste of vurella village and got divorced. She had two brothers and one sister (Who died of Jaundice 3 years ago). Her brothers live separately.  Since five years Jangamma had extra-marital relation with Subrahmanyam, BC Mudiraj by caste, occ: sweet vendor.  Few days before the fateful incident, Jangamma had differences with her elder brother Venkatayya (36).  Jangamma and Venkatayya quarreled on the day she was murdered.  Subrahmanyam doubted that she had extra-marital relations with other men and that is the reason she is not obeying his wishes.    

     

    DSS Intervention:

    • DSS conducted fact-finding and demanded the arrest of Subrahmanyam.  
    • Given representation to the DSP for inclusion of SC/ST (PoA) Act and I stage of compensation.
    • Presented the case to commission for further relief and rehabilitation.

GANG RAPE AND MURDER

    Case in Brief

    Shantamma, aged 48 years, R/o Reddyvaaripalle, Koduru mandal, SC by caste guards a Papaya garden and resides in a room in the same garden.  She has returned from her relatives place and got mango pickle with her on 15th May 2007 evening and was found dead on 16th May 2007 morning. Villagers informed that they have seen Shantamma approaching 6 auto drivers who were consuming alcohol and playing cards in Pattimeedapalem. They suspect that she was made to consume liquor forcefully, gang raped and murdered. Her body was found without clothes and there is serious injury on her head. Her body was buried without informing the police.  After this news was published, police and Human Rights Organizations took out the dead body and postmortem was performed.

47 families face social boycott at their refusal to beat drums during a village festival- Sangla

  • Summary:: This incident happened in Thesil Sangla, District Kinor, H.P. In this village there are 150 Kholi (Harijans), 170 Jhulah (Harijan Bandi), 250 Rajput and 36 Sursangeet families. There is a very famous Nagdevta temple where every year Rajputs organizes a function. In this functions the Kholi (Harijans) are supposed to play Nagada (Drum).Out of 150 families 103 families were ready to play Nagada, these 103 families were controlled by Rajputs. The rest 47 families refused to works under the wimps and fancies. The temple committee imposed social boycott on 47 families and they were asked to leave the village. The committee filed a notice that no one from the village would talk to any of these 47 families, neither can any shop keeper sell their items to theses families, the local bus driver would not board any of them. These families were not allowed to let their animals to graze on the government land if anyone was found helping them he/she would be fined with Rs10, 000/-. As time passed people still continued to follow the notice. On15-05-07, 13 Dalit women from these 47 families went to visit the temple, the temple committee pushed them away and the next day a list was put before the temple as to who all cannot enter into the temple. Theses 47 families filed case but no action has been taken against the temple committee. Case is running in lower Court Kinour District. Compensation is not given to victims.

    S. Vallakundapuram is a village located in Coimbatore district, Udumalai Taluk, Kudimangalam Union. There is a Hindu public temple called “MA KALI” and the people have been celebrating religious festival every year in the month of May and Chittirai (Tamil month). This festival will celebrate for three days in every year and many of them being participate and sacrifice their religious oath during the festival. This year festival was started at 09.05.2007 with Holy fir pot cermony for which the devotees were carrying the Holy fire pot and worshiped the god being inside the temple. On this course of time the Dalits also were carrying the holy fir pot and tried to enter the temple, Where the S. Vallakundapuram Dalit people were forbidden enter into the temple by the caste Hindu Ponnusamy and other caste hindus and they also abused them humiliating terms “ Son of Sakkiliya Prostitute” and one Mr.Naidu Kounder (upper caste Man) came forward and brutally beaten Mr. Ammavasai belongs to Dalits reside at S.Vallakundapuram and  picked the fir pot from the hand of Mr. Ammavasai and he thrown away, following that the above mentined prepetrators attacked the Dalit peopole used by long stick, iron rod and their hands. Mr. Durasisamy, Mrs. Natchammal, Mrs. Lakshmi and Mr. Durai Samy belongs to Dalit community were severly injured and they admitted in government hospital. Mr. Ammavasai belongs to Hindu Arunthathiyar community went to police station and lodged the complaint against caste hindus.

Dalit Woman Gang Raped by BSF Jawans

  • Summary:: On 08.05.07 Lalmati Devi, aged about 37 Years w/o Adalati Ram, R/o- Village Chakmak , P.S- Ahirola ,District – Azamgadh , U.P belonging to Chamar Community was allegedly raped by BSF officials . The victim and her husband earns their livelihood by daily labour.On 08.05.07 victim and her family members, after taking dinner were about to go to bed. At around 10.30 PM, three BSF officials (Harendra Yadav, Rakesh Singh s/o Mr. Badlu Singh and Prahlad Singh s/o Karan Singh) assigned on election duty from Afsaria Inter College came to the house of victim. They asked victim’s husband – Adalati Ram for the country made liquor (Todi). In response Adalati Ram said that since the shops are closed it is not possible to buy the same. Hearing this Mr Harendra Yadav asked Adalati Ram to come along with him to the Local Market – Mahul in order to search for the liquor. The other two, Rakesh Singh and Prahlad Singh preferred to stay at the house and sat on the cot. Later the two police officials allegedly, covered Lalmati’s eye and mouth and forcefully took her inside her house. Lalmati Devi tried to rescue herself and shouted but they threatened her of life threats. Perpetrators took turns raping her. One of the accused also attempted unnatural sex with the victim. They fondle her breast and Cheek. They assaulted her by giving scratches on her breast. While they were on the verge of lust victim’s son Sochan came and pleaded, but in vain. They slapped Sochan and thrashed out of the house. They raped her for about 15-20 minutes and left the house. Victim’s son Sochan informed his neighbor Mr. Vanshraj and others. At around 12.30 AM in the midnight Ex- Panchayat President Mr. Dinesh informed S.H.O – Ahirola and Police In charge at Mahuk of about the incident. At around 2 AM in the mid night SHO and the Police In charge of the Mahuk Chowki came to the spot. On 09.05.07, at around 12 O’clock in the afternoon SHO – Ahirola, District Magistrate – Azamgadh, S.P- Azamgadh came and asked about the accused persons. Adalati Ram and Sochan identified the accused. Based on the identification Police officials arrested Rakesh Singh and Prahlad Singh. On 09.05.07 Lalmati Devi was taken to the District Hospital for medical. FIR was registered on the same day u/s 376/504/506 IPC & u/s 3(1) (xii) of SC/ST (PoA) Act 1989. Spot investigation conducted by C.O- Mr. R.P. Yadav on 09.5.07. Case investigated by DSP -Mr. R.P. Yadav. All 3 accused arrested but one of the accused Harendra Yadav bailed out from Allahabad High court. Case is under trial in ADG II Court. Charge Sheet has been filed in the court. Compensation of Rs. 25,000 as per SC/ST (PoA) Rules 1995 paid to the victim
