Bhagwania Devi, her son Ravidas and his friend Lalbabu Paswan are resident of Kurji village under Patna Sadar police station in Patna Dist., belong to Scheduled caste community.
On the incident 23rd July 2009 at Kurji Village of Patna a middle-aged Dalit woman namely Bhagwania Devi, her son Ravidas and his friend Lalbabu Paswan were listening to Hindi songs on mobile phone. This was disliked by some dominant caste Bhumihar community men from the same village, who objected and asked them to stop. When they ignored their threat and continued to listen to the songs, the irate dominant caste group allegedly abused and severely beaten them up. Ravidas was seriously injured and was admitted to a private hospital.
A case was registered in Patna Sadar police station on 23/07/2009 against the assailants, however non them was arrested. The accused persons are harassing the victims to compromise the case and so the victims are under threat now.
Kaikala Chandra Leela, aged 43, SC madiga, was married to Kaikala Edukondala Venkata Ramana Rao, OC Kapu resident of Vijayanagar colony, Machavaram, Vijayawada, Krishna Dist. They have two girl children K.Anusha and K. Jhansi Lakshmi aged 19 and 17. Venkata Ramana Rao developed extra marital relationship with another woman named Veeramma three years ago and started neglecting his family and stopped even giving money for meeting the basic needs. When Chandra Leela questioned him he started harassing physically. When she requested to think about their children he said that they are not his children and abused her in the name of caste and threatened to kill her. Seeking justice she approached DSS.
Tadi Shilpa Rani (25) SC Mala, B.Tech professional was a resident of Vijayawada, Krishna Dist. She married Abdul Saleem, (30) Muslim resident of Auto Nagar, Vijayawada, Krishna District in October 2004. She was introduced by her friend over the phone and started speaking to him over phone while she was pursuing her Engineering degree in Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupathi. Later on he proposed her and without the knowledge of her parents, he married her secretly after 8 months of their friendship. She was forcefully converted as a Muslim and also changed her name as Farhana and she was also adopted by one of his relatives without her knowledge. After their marriage, her parents knew about the condition and met her and had a heated exchange. Abdul Saleem forced Shilpa to lodge a complaint on her parents. He used to doubt her fidelity from day one of their marriage and used to force her to follow their religious customs.
After 3 months of their marriage, she got a job in Hyderabad in a software company with a good salary. Due to their poor financial status he convinced her to shift the family after few months. She shifted to Hyderabad and stayed in a hostel. He used to harass her whenever she failed to answer the phone. In 2006 he along with his mother shifted to B.No: 142, D.No: 14, Bala Ram Nagar, Safilguda, Secunderabad. But he returned within 3 months saying that he shall do business in Vijayawada for which she gave an amount of Rs 30,000/-. He never asked her about the debt which she cleared herself. He never used to give any money to her for the expenses nor even told her about his income. She used to take care of the monthly expenses in Hyderabad. She used to spend her whole salary to his family. She also gave him Rs 50,000/- for his sister’s marriage which was cleared by her later. Every time he speaks, would be alleging her for one or the other reason. Often her mother in law also used to harass her with abusive language.
Abdul Saleem never used to care for their child. He used to doubt when she speaks to anyone. She discussed the issue with him but he never responded to it nor tried to rectify the differences between them. Shilpa approached his relatives 4 to 5 times, informed them about the harassment and even expressed to quit her job. He has not agreed to quit the job. Later he used to be good for 2 days and again used to harass her. He used to send indecent messages about her character. On 12th July 2009, he allowed her to go for an outing with her colleagues and promised her that he shall not raise an issue regarding it. When she came in the evening, he left to Vijayawada without informing her and her mother started abusing her about her character. Unable to bear that, Shilpa raised her voice against her for which her mother-in-law left to her relatives in Hyderabad. When she tried to contact Saleem, he never answered her call. Unable to bear the torture, she approached DSS and lodged a complaint. FIR was registered in Neredmet PS u/s 498 A of IPC and 3(I)(X) of SC/ST (PoA) Act.
